About Us
Background
Munda Fabrication was started by John van Maanen in 2003 with the support of small companies who believed in the quality service he could provide to service the diverse mining and related industries in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
The workshop that is located in Wedgefield is operated by key personnel with extensive local knowledge in the area of fixed and mobile plant maintenance, construction and specialist welding.
Munda Fabrication expanded to include steel sales to meet the growing demand in the Pilbara area, selling everything from steel floor plates to bolts.
Since the initial expansion into steel sales, we have further expanded into gas sales, which has insured Munda Fabrication has continued to evolve to reflect the dynamic environment of the Pilbara.

Munda Fabrication is committed to achieving a high standard of work place safety and health for all personnel and contractors associated with the company.
We provide a safe and healthy environment for employees and sub-contractors to work and have undertaken the commitment to meet or exceed the requirements of the “Duty of Care” legislation as set out in Occupational Health & Safety Act & the Mines Safety & Inspection Act.
Through the forum of tool box meetings we make all employees aware of their responsibilities & the company’s commitment to Occupational Health & Safety whilst using feedback to improve the working environment.

John is a firm believer in giving back to the community which supports him and has been involved extensively with the youth of the community to foster young talent.
At Munda Fabrication, we are committed to taking on local apprentices and helping them further develops their skills. We are also heavily involved in the local community.

John van Maanen
Director
After founding the business in 2003, John has been heavily involved in all aspects of Munda Fabrication. With over 25 years’ experience in fabrication in Pilbara, John has been able to continually shape Munda Fabrication to reflect the dynamic of the Pilbara Region.
Claude Babbini
Steel Sales
Since joining us in 2015, Claude has been the point of contact for any sale related queries. His background in concrete and construction has translated seamlessly to sales at Munda Fabrication.
Laura Bailey
Steel Sales
One of the newest additions to the team, Laura has joined us from across the road at One Steel. With 3 years’ experience in steel sales, Laura has fit in perfectly with the steel sales team.
Debby Smith
Bookkeeper
Debby is the person behind the smooth operation of Munda Steel’s accounts . She has been with us for 18 months and provides a professional service for Munda Steel.
Dee Fong
Stock Controller
Since joining us from New Zealand in 2012, Dee has been integral in stock control processes and purchasing for Munda Fabrication.
